Chevrolet Corvette C3
Coined the ‘Stingray’ (with its predecessor known as the ‘Sting Ray’), the third generation Corvette boasted V8 engines ranging from 5.0 to 7.4 litres.
With the 60’s being the height of the space race, Chevrolet famously commissioned a special production C3, dubbed ‘AstroVette’, and the three gold and black examples were leased to Pete Conrad, Richard F. Gordon, Jr., and Alan Bean of the Apollo 12 NASA mission, for the hefty price of a single US dollar each year. The styling of the C3 captured the era perfectly, the music, style and rebellious vibe of the era can almost be seen in the shape of the front end and it’s bulging shoulders.
The example below was a medium term project we undertook conducting repairs to the GRP (fibreglass) body and the subsequent refinishing in the rather fetching Le Mans blue.
